Reiki (ray-key)
which can be translated as ,"Universal life-force energy", is a laying-on-of-hands form of energy healing believed to have originated many thousands of years ago, and rediscovered in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui approximately 100 years ago.
During a Reiki session the energy is channeled through the Reiki practitioner and into the client where it works on all aspects of the client: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Since the practitioner is only acting as a channel for the energy and is not willing the energy in any way, there is never a danger that the practitioner will become depleted or take on any of the client's energies as often happens with other forms of energy work. Actually, one of the many blessings of Reiki is that during a session, both the client and the practitioner receive the healing benefits.
Reiki is incredibly powerful. Reiki has aided in healing virtually every known illness, such as cancer, depression, cardiovascular diseases with numerous reported miraculous and even spontaneous healings. Reiki can even be sent to others at a distance when they can't be physically present! Reiki's uses, however, are not limited purely to the area of healing. It can also be used as a tool for spiritual growth, to empower goals and overcome obstacles, relieve stress, as a means of protection on all levels, to charge up the food we eat and liquid we drink with energy, etc.

The different systems give you additional specialization tools in the form of symbols to work with and further enhance your healing skills. They not only help you in healing others but help in enhancing your own spiritual growth and open you up to the truth of your real self.
1. Traditional Usui System: This system consists of 3 levels:
a) Reiki Level One:
In this system the student receives a Reiki attunement wherein he becomes a channel of the Reiki energy. In this process the vertical power current which passes vertically through the midline of the person’s energy field and which is connected to the highest point of the Universe and reaches the lowest point of Mother Earth i.e. connected to Father Sky and Mother Earth is cleared by the attunement process up to a particular level and the intensity of the energy that the recipient receives is in tune with Reiki level One as given by Dr.Usui.

b) Reiki Level Two:
This is a more advanced application of the energy, concentrating more on the subtle or etheric body, rather than the physical. In this level the student receives a another set of attunement and is initiated into the three sacred symbols of the degree, which increases the power of the energy and allows the practitioner to project the Reiki energy at a distance , effecting a powerful form of absent healing. It is 700 times more powerful than Reiki level One. Reiki Level two also helps the practitioner to focus the energy to remove and heal mental and emotional block in the client. The student will undergo a further change in their spiritual make-up, accelerating the progression of the individual.
USUI Reiki ( Level 3)

c) Reiki level Three:
In this level the student further goes on to receive another set of attunements and here the student is acknowledged as the Boddhisatva-The Enlightened One. Again, in this level another set of symbols is given to the student and here the entire vertical power current is cleared and the healings given by the students is felt as extremely powerful by the healees who receive the healings.

Seichem Reiki
Seichem Reiki is a system that has grown from the additions made to it by a number of people over the years. It has the same roots as traditional Reiki .It is believed that when Hawayo Takata, the first person from outside Japan to be initiated in Reiki, was initiated, she was not initiated in all the healing energies of the healing system that was developed by Mikao Usui, but only to the Reiki energy. The Seichem system incorporates many old and new forms of healing augmented by the use of Tibetan and Sanskrit symbols most likely used by Usui himself.

Raku-Kei Reiki
This is the ancient science of self development and self- improvement. This system is believed to have come from Tibet. It is thought that this technique was an exact esoteric science that was passed down to initiates by verbal tradition. In this way it eventually disappeared until the Sanskrit text identifying these techniques was rediscovered by Dr.Usui in the 1800’s.

This technique was devised by Dr.Barbara Ray and enjoys a greater popularity in the US than anywhere else. This is referred to as the Radiance technique up to the 4th degree. The 5th, 6th and 7th degrees are different from those taught by Ray.
